Almost 2500 punters turned out for the annual Port Augusta Cup on Sunday.
Most Handsome, trained by Dennis O'Leary of Normanville, won the coveted XXXX Gold Cup last Sunday, scoring $13,400 in prize money.
Cricketing legend Darren 'Boof' Lehmann presented the cup to the winner of the main event at Port Augusta Racecourse.
Despite recent illness, Mayor Joy Baluch awarded winning jockey Jason Lyon a special whip.
Port Augusta Racing Club president Geoffrey Fullerton described the event as "very successful."
An estimated 2300 people enjoyed the annual festivities with entertainment provided for punters both young and old.
Children had their faces painted, rode the amusements and jumped on the bouncy castle while their parents watched replays of homebred filly Augusta Proud's wins shown on a large screen.
Performances by singer-songwriter John O'Day were a highlight and punters wore their best suits and fascinators for the Fashions on the Field competition.
Secretary manager of Port Augusta Racing Trevor Morgan was happy with how the smoothly the event ran.
"It was good racing and a good day all round.
“People took every opportunity to have a good time," he said.
