Welcome to round five results for the midweek squash.
It was a fresh start for the morning but once everyone got on court and played their matches it was a different story.
I could have used that Selley’s No Gaps, as we had a few holes in the sides but luckily they were filled in again.
Paul's Ewoks were to face Lyn's Wockies.
Unfortunately Paul will have to play Lyn on Monday, and there is a story in itself.
Peter Dack played against Lucy Kenefick and these two had some mighty fine shots between them.
Pete just couldn't hang on in there and seemed to run out of steam and Lucy took the match off him in a four setter.
Denise Johnson then filled in for Helen Newman and came up against Cherie Gerlach.
These two girls had a great game against each other as it went tit for tat but poor Denise just seemed to run out of fuel in the end and couldn't gas herself up, so Cherie won the match in five.
There was only one point the difference between the scores, 39 to 38, which tells you they had a great game.
Great squash girls, well done.
Andrea Miller then had to play Kathrine Moyes.
Andrea said she didn't feel as though she played well today but she managed to get quite a few points, which is nothing to be sneezed at, but Kathrine did end up winning the game in three.
I was finding it pretty hard to find a fill in for Phillip Morphett today, so I dragged in Jason McInerney - it's amazing what desperation does to people!
He was to play Chris Jessop but Chris went to golf, as you do so I did it again - I roped poor Lyn in to fill in for Chris.
She was definitely up for the challenge.
Now this would be the equivalent of Stevie Wonder going in the hurdle race!
He had Lyn running around the court like a chook with its head cut off though.
Lyn did very well as she can be some what deceiving with some of her shots.
Lyn actually got the first game as Jason misjudged a few shots and before he knew it, gave Lyn a handicap.
She snuck up on him winning the game 12/11, what a champ!
Jason then ended up winning the match in four.
Sonja Girdler is out with an injury at the moment so Lucy Kenefick will fill in and play me at a later date.
We had young Jess Turner fill in for Judy again today as she faced Jackie Jessop.
Jess is like one of those little Duracell bunnies, as she just keeps on going and doesn't seem to want to stop.
Jess and Jackie had a good match and Jackie got one game but as I said Jess just kept going and she won the match in four.
Loretta Baker then played Wendy McMahon, who filled in for Susan Lee.
This was another good match even though Wendy was able to win in three this time against Loretta.
Loretta played some really great shots and was able to score quite a few points, as she does, but not enough of them to get a game today.
