The blockbuster ANZAC Day clash between two traditional foes will be played out at the home of football this Friday in what will already be a crunch game for the Bloods in particular.
Ripped to shreds by the Hawks on Saturday, Centrals are still smarting and will be looking at themselves in the mirror and having a good hard look, lifting their socks up, regrouping and soul searching but will this be enough against the Bulldogs?
In effect the Bloods have six days to find some fitness, form, desire and cohesiveness to at least be competitive against a South Augusta side bursting out of their chests to play their first game of the 2008 Season.
The Bulldogs will have seen the Hawks tear the Bloods up and will be quietly confident that they can exploit a team perhaps a little underdone?
South know their own game inside out, have some very talented youngsters and some super-experienced stagers to steer the ship.
The Bloods kicked the first four goals of the game against the Hawks last week but got trounced by eight goals!
Did Centrals think it would just happen after such a confident start?
Did West just take a while to get going after being taken by surprise?
Did the new look red and blacks fail to click, were they not fit enough and/or was West simply a better team?
With dual Madigan Medallist Matt Keatley to have a delayed entry to the season and Kane Allen also a non-starter the Bloods could look to excuses.
They won't and that means that the 21 who played must shoulder the responsibilities.
Both Centrals recruits in Yeomans and Dawson had very good SGL debuts in the middle and on the wing respectively, while Baker and Fuller tried hard all day.
There are quite a few Bloods men who will be checking the selection sheet once posted Thursday night for their names with some measure of trepidation.
