The first match in this week's Port Augusta Table Tennis saw Sportscene Hawks 11 rubbers 37 sets defeated Magic FM Crows 10 rubbers 41 sets.
The results was in the balance right down to the last two doubles matches with Hawks winning them both in five tight sets.
Earlier Pam Thomas won a five set beauty over Todd Phillips and Peter Trewartha got one back with an upset five setter over Bruce Molineux.
Karl Chamberlain had two good wins but lost to cagey Max Duhring in four high class sets while late inclusion Robert Harris had two good singles wins and lost a five set match to Pam Thomas.
Stewart Vincent won all his matches and Julie Warner only lost one match.
Port Augusta Refrigeration Eagles nine rubbers 34 sets defeated McDonalds Power nine rubbers 30 sets.
This match also went down to the wire with Toby Baxter and Trish Taylor doing the job in the doubles to clinch it.
Wes Yates won all his matches with a strong win over Kristen Long being his best.
Ian "Bill" Harris had two good wins including a five set epic over Matt Prentis while once again Trish Taylor won all her matches.
Toby Baxter played up at number three and had two excellent wins with a set off Wes.
Claudette Cusack was consistent as usual losing a five setter to Trish but bounced back with a four set win over Angela Stubing.
Go Nabs 15 rubbers 47 sets defeated South Augusta Bulldogs six rubbers 23 sets.
The Go Nabs recorded its second win of the season to join Hawks and Crows on two wins in a tight battle for that fourth spot.
The only question is, can the Go nabs win two ties in a row and the general opinion is that they can't.
They do however get praised for their signature tune My Sharona by one hit wonders The Knack.
Craig Rowbottom had a nice four set win over John Osborne while dad Brenton Osborne amended things with a straight set axing of Bruno Carcuro.
Martin "Chook" Yates had three wins in singles, as did Mick Rowbottom and "Ozzy" senior won all his matches for the Dogs.
Kingsley Heard had a good night with two wins and a narrow loss to Bruno "The Inconsistent" Carcuro.
The juniors had only eight players this week for various reasons and the highlights were Liam Hayes’ four set win over Eliza Phillips and Todd Phillips trying valiantly against Kristen Long.
Corbin Danylycha, Reid Honan, Craig Shirley and Clayton Brauwers made up the eight who honed their skills and hopefully a few of their mates will come back out again.
Remember juniors 5.20pm start at the South Augusta Football Club on Monday nights and coach Stewart Vincent will be in attendance.
