We nearly had a full house this week with only a couple of people missing for round seven of mid squash.
When I said about Phil not being able to play last week, we had Paul fill in for him and he played Lyn, being herself, today.
Lyn always usually seems to be able to pick up a game off Paul but not today.
I must admit though the last game she nearly cracked it and took Paul to 11/12.
Paul just kept Lyn at arm’s length and kept his boasting shots up, which came off beautifully and Lyn just couldn't get that stride in her step to get to them and he won the match in three.
In round seven Phil’s Jedis played Paul’s Ewoks.
Phil Morphett still couldn't be with us as he is going to be a grandfather.
Phil was to play Paul Pratt but I found a ring-in at the last moment.
Lucy's husband Les came in to do weights - bad timing - so I quickly nobbled him and got him to play for Phil.
Les and Paul had quite a good game.
Paul still showed his athletic side of it and flitted around the court like a speeding bullet.
He also showed some great boasting shots but Les just seemed to outwit him in the end and was able to pull it off and take the match off Paul in four.
We had Sonja Girdler back finally after her injury.
Sonja played Peter Dack and they had a huge game as they battled it out between each other.
I had to check to see if either of them had indentations in the backs of their heads, as they don't like to call lets, it's just get out of the way.
After their great match Peter ended up winning it in a five setter with eight points being the difference.
We have Judy Brusnahan back with us.
Judy had to play Helen Newman, who is also back, even better.
Helen tried hard but was not quite good enough as Judy went one better and won the match in three.
Loretta Baker then faced Andrea Miller.
Loretta had a slow start in the first but then she came back in the second taking Andrea to 10/12.
Andrea just kept on flying ahead after that and finally beat Loretta in three.
It was Chris’ Yodas up against Lyn’s Wockies.
Chris Jessop was to play Lyn Weisshaupt but Chris had her ladies golf day so Lyn and Kerry Chesson play socially on Thursdays, so Kerry was Chris and Lyn was herself.
Kerry beat Lyn in three.
Julie Forsyth then played Lucy Kenefick.
By this time it was getting really late and we only had Paul and Loretta left behind to score and umpire.
Julie and Lucy had a great game though.
Not sure if Lucy had a bit of an off day but they had a couple of close games.
Julie ended up winning in a five setter with the last game going Jules’ way 9/0.
Then Jackie Jessop faced Cherie Gerlach and what a spectacular game between these two girls.
There was, again, some close games with great shots and the way these two girls managed to get around the court, it was great to see.
It was a great match for Cherie as she is the bottom of that line and Jackie is the top and Cherie managed to win the match in five with only five points the difference.
Susan Lee was then to play Wendy McMahon, which didn't happen, as Susan had to work.
They will play at a later date.
If Wendy wins then both teams will have two rubbers each.
Phil’s Jedis and Paul’s Ewoks also had two rubbers each, so then it went back to games and Phil’s Jedis won by one game.
Now Phil’s Jedis and Paul’s Ewoks are both on 19 points each, with Lyn’s Wockies on 15 and then Chris’ Yodas propping up the bottom with 11.
There is two weeks school holidays, so there will be no squash.
