I just received a notice for the remaining $60 payment of our kerb side pick-up.

Just heard on the TV that the Port Augusta ratepayers are up for a six per cent plus rise in this year's rates.

Could the Port Augusta City Council give the ratepayers of our city an answer about the amount charged for household rubbish, recycle plus green material for the 2007/08 year.

As stated in a previous letter (April 14, 2008) the charges are from October 2007 till June 2008 a term of approximately nine months.

A $2.20 a week fee for this period calculates to $83.60.

The final fee for $60 is due by June 22.

Ratepayers should only pay $23.60 to have paid up in full.

Please give us an answer before payment is due.
